Beatles Psyop
“The Beatles psyop” that is literalized in the 2nd Matrix version of (roughly) “Tavistock engineered it all and the Frankfurt School wrote their songs” turns the group into a (vastly) more sophisticated version of The Monkees. It sees them as basically a bunch of actors performing a psychological operation of social engineering in which everything is essentially fake.
The Beatles were the first well-known pop band ever to write their own songs, and this fact alone is of central significance, in terms of The Beatles as a phenomenon. As Ian MacDonald writes in Revolution in the Head:
The sudden arrival of a group which wrote most of its own material was a small revolution in itself, and it is a recurring testimony of later songwriters that it was the do-it-yourself example of The Beatles which impelled them to form bands of their own (p. 70-71).
