De-Monetizing Meetings

De-Monetizing Meetings

Weekly online meets now open to all subscribers who meet the requirements

Post-Vipassana, I have a new appreciation for a non-monetary system of community interaction, and was truly amazed how well it works.

I also cannot argue with the reasoning, that what is of true value cannot be assigned monetary value without de-valuing it. And that, when it comes to spiritual benefits, getting them for free (by donation) is a way to make souls more, not less, open to receiving them.

Paying subscribers keep Children of Job going because I wouldn’t continue an online content-generating space (at least with the regularity that I do) if it weren’t my sole means of income at this stage (not counting 9 euros made today for eggs).

The weekly online meetings, however, are a source of pleasure, purpose, and meaning for me, and I would certainly continue to do them for free; so then why not?

My reasoning has been that making them available to paying subscribers ensures only the more committed people would attend; but experience tells me that only seriously committed people would ever make time to attend them anyway. 8 euro a month is hardly proof of commitment, only of intellectual interest.

Certainly, there’s nothing to indicate that the online meetings attract paying subscribers. They are not a lure. In fact, I doubt if making them open to all (those who meet the requirements, see here) will make much of a difference to attendance (we shall see). But nonetheless, as of today, they are now open to all subscribers.

A Sons of Job meeting is in 5 hrs, and every Thursday at around 5:30 UK time. There are regular, or semi-regular, Saturday meetings (mixed, with focus on Christ and spiritual questions) either at 1 pm or 5 pm (at least until the clocks go back, on Oct 25th).

Donations to attend can be made here: https://childrenofjob.com/#/portal/support

To receive the link, contact me via my email or a message at substack (or comment here with a contact), with a confirmation about meeting the requirements.

Wishing peace, harmony, and happiness to all
